The last day of the year!

December 31, 2007

I spent today studying! I actually forgot today was the last day of the year, but well. (:

Finished up Draft 1 of the Contract assignment. Or, well. 60%. Gonna try to finish it up later on~

Made onion and anchovy tarts today! I’ve discovered that anchovies are lovely things to put in food, especially in pasta. (:

Onion and Anchovy Tarts

Ingredients

  1. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  2. 60g butter
  3. 4 to 5 medium mushrooms (450g), halved, sliced thinly
  4. 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  5. 1 bay leaf
  6. thyme – dried/ fresh
  7. 8 anchovy fillets, chopped finely
  8. 3/4 cup (110g) self- raising flour
  9. 3/4 cup (110 g) plain flour
  10. 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
  1. 1 Heat oil and half of the butter in a large frying pan; and cook onion, garlic, bay leaf, and thyme. Stir occasionally, about 20 minutes or until onion caramelizes. Discard bay leaf. Stir in anchovies.
  2. Meanwhile, mix flour and remaining butter until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add buttermilk, and mix till all ingredients just come together. Knead on a lightly floured surface till smooth.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 degrees celsius. Grease baking trays lightly.
  4. Divide dough into 6 portions. Roll each portion to form 14cm squares. Roll edges over to form 1cm border.
  5. Place squares on prepare trays. Place caramelized onion mixture on each square. Bake uncovered, for about 15 minutes or until the pastry browns slightly.

My pastry was a little too thick coz I bought a premix one, and didn’t want to waste any. So yep. (: It tastes absolutely wonderful. Onions, garlic and anchovies are a tasty marriage!

One raspberry cheesecake sitting in the fridge now! Just had to try it out, see if it works. Gonna make one to bring to Jiar Li’s place on Wednesday! -beams- So I thought I should just try it out, and see how it turns out! :D

And…

HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU ALL! (:

HMM.

December 31, 2007

Is it normal to hear birds chirping at 2.39 am?

Almost the end of 2007.

December 30, 2007

It’s almost the end of 2007! And my, what a tumultuous year it has been. Inspired by my dearest sissie sister, I shall pay a tribute to all those who’ve made a difference in my life.

Dad – for giving me a chance to study overseas, and not complaining one little bit. And his classic phrase “Goodnight, see you tomorrow”, and saying “Back to happy suffering” whenever school started. (: And yes, I know, just like my sister does, that he cares a whole lot, but doesn’t say anything. And for all the laughs when remembering my grandmother, and having an early Christmas by swishing joss sticks around with Nadia in the temple while the nun was chanting for grandmuzzer.

Grandmuzzer – I miss you so so much.

Muzzer – She’s normally not around, or at home, but it’s alright. (:

HUININGSSS – EH YOU, INTACT LIVER, I SAY! Don’t drink so much, and wash more dishes, and do your laundry and make sure you feed the cat, you lazy ass! But no matter how much I nag you, you know la, I stilll wurve you muchies. (: AND CLEAN YOUR ROOM!

MY CRAZY AUNT – Hello best friend! (: She’s the one whom I spent at least 50% of my monthly smses to, and someone I can bitch to all the time. She’s the one who’s nuts, and who played hide and seek with us on top of Kent Ridge at 2 am in the morning. She’s the one whom I go to the market with, and who really really really made a HUGE difference in my life. I think I’d be so so different without her.

Nadia, Nicole – My crazy cousins. AND STOP FIGHTING! You’re worse than me and my sister when we were your age, right HUININGS???

ROO – love you! This year has been quite a crazy one for you, and I hope the next one would be a sunnier, and happier one. I love you, and I know he’s smiling for you where ever he is. He is, definitely. I’d love you more on behalf of him! (:

Han – She always puts a smile on my face, and one of my bestest friends. Thanks for being there through the crazy times, and when I needed a rant, and talking to me (once) at 3 am in the morning and listening to me rant mindlessly in my half sleep mode.

Ra, Caroline, Sean – You three made such a difference in me, to me. We stuck together, since those PW days, of rushing endless reports and presentations. I’m glad that I got to know you, and that we’re still together as a group till now (: Love you all.

A301 – ROCKS!

Jaslin – Thanks! For all the lovely memories I’d always hold dear in my heart. For making Myanmar such a wonderful place, for sitting with me under the stars at night, for bathing next to the concrete well of cold water and screaming at the COLD, and for being such a wonderful friend. (: Macaron when I get back! That’s a promise. -gleeful smile-

Zitian – HAHA, how did we end up as such good friends? Since the days in the toilet early in the morning, bitching about how ungodly a time it was to be running, till now. I’m glad we’re friends. (: really glad.

Glen – My makan buddy! My movie kaki! My cat friend! My study partner! My durian pal! (and I’ve run out of words that mean “friend”). I miss studying with you so so much, miss going to the movies with you, miss watching horror movies and freaking out and having you laugh at me, and miss having durian with you. He’s the only guy who’d ask about my cats. Haha, and the only one who won’t get tired of me talking about my darlin’ Miaowsies. And I really do go on and on about that feline nutcase. Hee.

Patrick – Thanks for picking me up in the morning, and giving me a lift home all the time. Thanks for supporting me in the long, studying hours, and thanks for being such a wonderful friend. (: He has given me a lot, helping me without any questions asked. Studying with me, discussing all the issues over and over. Spending my birthday with me, studying with me and treating me to a lovely lunch. Bringing me to funky places to eat that I’d never think of going. And just being there, even till now. Thanks buddy.

Annie – My korean half- sister. Well, used to be my steamboat buddy. But we can always change to Seoul Garden! RIGHT? (: Always telling me to take care all the time when I was here, and being a wonderful sister. My mother was commenting that she feels like she has 3 daughters instead of 2. haha, so cute.

Smin, Jiarli – Thanks for making Sheffield such a wonderful place for me!

I know I must have missed out on a lot of people, but, I still love you!

On a sidenote: Been trying to book my train tickets to Manchester on the 26th. It’s been absolutely hell, trying to get a damned train. Grr.

Eggplant Pastitio

December 29, 2007

Went to Castle Market this morning, and bought enough meat to last at least a couple of weeks. Kilos of meat. So I won’t need to walk all the way there. (And past all the shops, and be tempted to go in……)

Made an eggplant pastitio today! I totally forgot to take photographs, was happily eating it, and when I popped the last bite into my mouth, I suddenly realized that I should have taken a photograph. I shall type out the recipe here!

It’s split into 4 parts..

1)You’d need about 2 medium/large eggplants. Or aubergines. It’s not the long long ones. I’m referring to those that are more tear- drop shaped, and is of a deep, intense purple which almost is black. You’d need about 4 for a baking tin (22cm round tin), and about 2 for any other deep metal dishes the size of a bread tin.
Slice eggplant lengthwise thinly, and lay them out on a baking tray. Sprinkle black pepper and salt sparingly over the sliced eggplant, and drizzle olive oil over. Pop in the oven to grill for 20 minutes till soft. Arrange eggplant slices around a greased baking tin, leaving a little to hang over the sides. Remember not to leave any gaps in between each slice!

2) Get minced meat, 500 grams for a baking tin, about 200 grams if you’re using a smaller tin, like a bread tin or something. Fry a finely chopped onion, a finely chopped clove of garlic. Once the onions have softened considerably, add the meat. Salt and pepper to taste. Add pasta sauce. For a 200gram portion of meat, 4 heaped tablespoons of pasta sauce would be enough. Leave aside.

3)Boil pasta in pot of salted water. The pasta has to be small! Not the huge shaped sorts. Alphabet pasta would be good, or anything slightly larger than that. Once almost tender, take off the heat, drain it, and add 30g of butter to it. After, add 2-3 eggs, beaten, to the mixture, and 25g of grated parmesan cheese. Leave it aside.

4) As for the white sauce, melt 60g of butter in a saucepan, add slightly less than 1/4 cup of plain flour, and stir till it thickens. Add 1 1/2 cups of milk slowly, till the sauce boils and slowly thickens.

So that’s the 4 steps. Now for the assembling.

Add the meat sauce at the bottomest layer, making sure that you cover the bottom properly. Add the white sauce above, spreading evenly, and after, the pasta mixture. Wrap the hanging bits of eggplant back over on top of the mixture, and cover totally with remaining slices of eggplant. There should be more than enough. But a good gauge would be about 6 slices leftover for a baking tin, and about 2 slices left for the top if you’re using a container not larger than that of a bread tin. Just wrap tightly with foil, and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 40 mins. After, take the foil off, and bake for a further 5-10 minutes to brown the top a little (:

Stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

That wasn’t that coherent. HAHAHAHA. OK back to anime.

Sudden Paranoia.

December 27, 2007

I was looking at the examinable material for this semester, and I was suddenly taken over by this sudden attack of paranoia. So now I’m starting my revision one day ahead compared to the planned 28th. It’s just a silly day, and what can I do in one stupid night. But I’m still here, doing my skeletal notes for Public law again, as a form of revision.

Definition, cases, developments, history, criticisms.

That’s all, I think.

Met Smin and Jiarli for a little spot of shopping today. Wanted to go to Castle Market today to buy another kilo of cheap ribs, but it was closed. So oh wells. And was really irritated at the Topshop and Topman outlets in town. I bought a shirt for my sister from Topman, but they stupidly left the tag on it. And I was wondering what was happening as I was setting off all the damned alarms into all the shops I go into. It was so IRRITATING. and EMBARRASSING.

Why would they place tags on shirts when they have no means of removing it. Unfathomable.

But at least, I found some random shop that had a strong enough magnet to remove the stupid tag. I couldn’t be happier. I pranced out of that shop, and happily proclaimed to Jiarli that it didn’t, and WON’T, beep anymore. Glee.

Alright, I’m gonna go back and finish up my skeletal notes for Public before I embark on Tort. Thank goodness Contract and Understanding law are assessed via assignments. -heaves sigh of relief- I think I’m going to try doing an Essay question instead of a problem question for Contract. I hope it’d be fine. It seems easy enough, I think.

And I won a Carebear at the carnival today! It has a picture of a heart with a smiley face hiding behind a cloud, and also a rainbow. How bubble-gummy and candyfloss happy it is.

When the Sun rises;

December 27, 2007

sunrise.jpg

I think this picture didn’t do the sunrise justice at all. It was much much prettier.

Sat there, in front of the window, staring at the hues of purple and pink as the sun rose. It was really lovely (:

I have a SORE THROAT!

December 26, 2007

I hate having sore throats! It makes my life an absolute misery.

Anyhoo, woke up early today, and met Jiar Li, and Smin and her two friends at the University Tram Stop to catch the tram to Meadowhall (HUGE ASS SHOPPING MALL) for a spot of shopping!

(Looks at considerably much empty wallet)

Oh wells. (: I’m gonna go sleep now, and IF all goes well, I’m going to wake up early to go with Smin to the City for more shopping. WOOHOO.

Profiteroles

December 25, 2007

Finally, a normal looking batch of profiteroles! ((:

hpim2553.jpg

Not like those wonky ones last night.. -cackles-

Merry Christmas everyone!

December 25, 2007

Had a lovely Christmas Eve Feast today! With my two lovelies, Smin and Jiarli. Had a nice roasted turkey, with sage and onion stuffing, a roast gammon joint, and potatoes!

And we made little profiteroles, which didn’t turn out very pretty, but still tasted like heaven with that whipped double cream, mm yum!

I loved tonight, with us all dressed up and sitting down to a proper dinner! After pulling our Christmas crackers apart, and wearing that wonky paper hat and reading the silly jokes in them, we tucked into our dinner with much gusto after 4 hours of preparation. All the work was definitely worth it -smiles-

And we decided to go for Midnight Mass at Sheffield Cathedral just for the heck of it.

And, I enjoyed every minute of it so much.

It was lovely, singing with the rest of the congregation in the large hall. Many of my favourite Christmas Carols were sung, and everyone really sang their heart out. The incense was however, really choking. But after a while, I kinda got used to the thick aromatic scent. My hands, somehow, still smell like that!

The bishop was so jovial! And his sermon got me thinking about quite a bit of things. Which, I have yet to sort through.

It was so lovely, so so lovely. Everyone was so jovial, with beaming old grannies tottering along wishing everyone Merry Christmas, and the ministers all standing outside after the service with a huge smile, and a kind word. Sometimes, I think that’s all is needed to make someone happy, you know? Just telling someone you care means a lot.

I’m going to go sleep now! I’m so tired!! But I’m so so happy -smiles-

And once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!! Happy Holidays!!!

The eve of the Eve.

December 23, 2007

It’s the eve of Christmas eve, and I can’t wait for tomorrow to come! Loads of food to prepare, for a teensy weensy party for the 3 of us. A turkey with sage and onion stuffing, a gammon joint, and roasted potatoes. Plus we’re going to make profiteroles and eclairs in the day for dessert, sounds wonderful!

I spent a really sinful day today, shopping (yet again). Curse the pre- Christmas sale! Everything’s going for like 2 – 4 quid! WHICH is so shitty coz it’s so cheap. But when I buy a lot, it kinda adds up to quite a bit of money. But well, I think I really got my money’s worth. A gold handbag from Dorothy Perkins for 2 quid, and 3 other bags from Primark for about 10 pounds. And tops, and purses and blah can’t remember.

BOXING DAY SALESSS,
omg. OK, that shall be another crazy shopping trip. -cackles with joy-

I bashed my little toe on the door frame just now when I was prancing from the kitchen back to my room. HAHA, I was like “LAADIDUM LAA DIDUM”, and suddenly, “WHAM” went my toe into the door frame. And almost instantaneously, a loud “FUCK!” emitted from me. And little curses ensued, all the way to my chair, where I promptly collapsed and started trying to imagine the pain away. lol.

It’s swollen now, POO!

The aunt, and the cousins, and the cousin’s aunts and the sister just left for hongkong, -is jealous- I ALSO WANNA GOOOOOO. I hope they’d have loads of fun there. (: I know they will..

BUT I STILL WANT TO GO. -sulks-

Ok, I shall stop whining! And go watch more anime. I shall start on work once again on the 28th. HEHE. I think I should give myself a break anyways. Well. Don’t I always. (:

And here are some of the things I got ytd :D

Sushi party!

December 22, 2007

Had a really fun sushi party today! Making makis, and laughing at the wonkiness at our rolls due to inadequacy. And having loads of fun generally. -smiles-

I don’t feel like doing work AT ALL! And I can’t believe Christmas is just a mere two days away.. wow.

And..

Happy Birthday Jiarli! (:  I hope you’d have yet another wonderful year.. (: <3

Mononoke.

December 22, 2007

Been quite freaked out by this new anime I’m watching, called Mononoke. It’s not scary in the ghostly sort, but it’s scary in the way that it’s so insane. The plot, the characters, the drawings, the background music, everything. -shudders-

838283m83m83p_01.jpg

Had a wonderful dinner at Wongting today.. Finally had duck! Yum, roast duck, hiaks.

And a Seriously Chocolatey cake for the birthday people today! I couldn’t believe the amount of chocolate that’s in that cake. It felt like I was just eating Chocolate alone.

Oh, and I got myself gingerbread to eat! It looks absolutely pretty, and I can’t bear to eat it, ah!
purse-1.jpg

And also a purse from Dorothy Perkins, for two freaking quid. 捡到便宜 haha.. I was thinking of getting a handbag, but I was thinking, I probably won’t ever use it coz it’s pink (the same colour as my purse). So I didn’t in the end.
purse.jpg

Tired. Sleep time. Goodnight (:

odd.

December 20, 2007

-rubs chin- very odd. There’s an odd smell about, but I can’t seem to find the source. (I didn’t fart or anything).

Oh wells, -sprays with air freshener-

Anyways, I realize that I’ve got 3 weeks of school-less days before the new school semester starts! And that happily coincides with Chinese New Year! And Exams would be over by that time, no more assessments. So I might go home! Ticket prices would be cheaper too anyways at that time….. HEH HEH HEH.

I’d have to think about it.. I’m really keen on going home, missing home so so much.

Alright, I shall have to confirm that real soon. (:

Cooked Green Thai Curry Chicken today! Actually I didn’t really cook it, I just kind of heated it up. HAHA. But it was okay, but a tad sour from the kaffir lime leaves they used in the bottled sauce.

I can’t wait till Christmas to come! I’ve been feeling all Christmassy for the past few days, and been prancing about the flat humming Christmas songs. Though, I don’t like the craziness that occurs when everyone’s trying to finish their Christmas shopping. Even Atkinson’s parking is totally full. And it was on a Monday at that.

Oh yea! And did my laundry today. I got lazy of trying to wash my laundry in the sink, so I decided to just heck it and go downstairs to use the washer and dryer. It’s a whooping 3 quid just for the washer and dryer. SUCKS! Makes me wish I had my own washer and dryer. But wells.

The dried clothes were so warm! Was happily toasting my hands in them when I was walking back to Block Q. It was shit ass cold today, and I was thinking, since the laundryroom’s just 20 metres away, I thought I won’t bother with a jacket. But even spending that few seconds in the cold was quite shitty! -checks weather forecast- Oh it’s two degrees tonight, but it sure feels like it’s much colder than that.

Planning my essay plan for my contract law assignment. I think I’m going to attempt an essay question this time round. I think essay questions are in fact easier to do coz I don’t have to keep making sure I’m advising the client.

Last day of the semester tomorrow! I can’t wait for the holidays to start.

And Linkin Park concert in Jan with Smin~ that’s gonna be fun!

Figs.

December 18, 2007

I don’t know what is so attractive about figs, but I simply love the taste of them. It’s like a perfect snack to me, odd.

Anyways, my shoulder’s aching again. There was this intense shocking pain when I was pulling on my boots this morning, like how when you crash your funny bone, and there’s this sudden recoil of shock. Horrible I tell you, Horrible :(

-chomps on figs-

Was experimenting with wheat noodles for dinner. Bought a pack for 39p (CHEAP!) and decided to make fried noodles, with mushrooms, onions, and with hot bean sauce. And it turned out perfectly fine!

Last day of lesson on Friday, can’t wait for Christmas to come!!

GLEE.

Chester day trip. (:

December 15, 2007

So after a really queasy coach ride back from Chester to Sheffield, and staggering home with the bags of shopping (GLEEFUL LOOK) and sore feet, I finally can rest! Ah, bliss.

Okay! Woke up at 5 30 in the morning, washed my hair, and walked to Bar One to wait for the rest of them to come. We got onto the bus at 7 30, and headed down to Chester, which was a 2 hour drive away from Sheffield, and which got me really car sick coz the roads to Chester aren’t exactly… straight. (they’re gay!)

Ahem, anyways
copy-of-chester-7.jpg
This is a picture of the country side on the way to Chester! It was happily dotted with sheep frolicking and tottling about the frosty grass, absent mindedly chewing on a stray blade of grass which I was sure to be pretty frozen, or butting their herd mate on the butt. I saw a sheep do that! It was totally hilarious. Oh and I saw cows too! But they didn’t have white splotches all over their hide.

Our first stop after reaching Chester was the Roman Gardens, which was next to an ancient medieval Roman amphitheatre in from of St. John’s Baptist Church. The Roman Gardens were built next to this wall which was built in the 1400s, most of it pretty much destroyed by the elements. There wasn’t much there to see anyways. But it was nice to get some good fresh air back in the stifled lungs of mine (:
copy-of-chester-11.jpg

Went to the High Street later on! (The term “High Street” is used to describe any main shopping district here) Popped into the Disney shop where I happily splurged on gifts for the sister and the cousins. Bought them lovely keyrings with little charms. A Cinderella one for Nic, a Nemo one for Nadia, and a 7 dwarfs one for huinings! (: It was so fun in there, singing along to High School Musical Songs, and bobbling about to cheery Christmas songs.
copy-of-chester-19.jpg
Newgate Road

Stumbled along, and popped into a confectionary shop before heading to Chester Cathedral. The sweet shop is an ABSOLUTE darling, with glass jars filled with fudges, liquorice, jelly beans, gemmy gums, and snaps! I took a picture of the display window, and it’s extremely alluring. I got this little metal box of jelly beans with the picture of a cat sleeping on it, in love with that! And also, lollypops. (:
copy-of-chester-4.jpg

Rambled along the cobble stone path all the way to Chester Cathedral next, which was just next door. The architecture is so intricate! I have no idea how they did it, seriously. All the eaves were like painstakingly covered with delicate carvings, it’s incredible.
copy-of-chester-25.jpg

copy-of-chester-28.jpg
The inner gardens of the Cathedral. Wanted to go in, but we couldn’t find a way in. So we kinda gave up. (:

copy-of-chester-31.jpg
Pretty stained glass!

copy-of-chester.jpg
This is quite a huge window! It takes up about the height of 3 stories, on one entire side of the Cathedral. The Cathedral’s special in a way that it’s not just one huge hall right smack in the middle of it. It’s split into a few different wings, all facing the centre, and the kids even have their own little corner with little chairs. It was so wonderful to sit there in the midst of all the splendour and the intricacy of the art work on the ceiling, and on the walls. And it was just a tad morbid coz there were human remains all underneath the floors of the Cathedral. Was walking and reading all the epitaphs on the floor.

copy-of-chester-39.jpg
Big- ass Church Organ. It’s like 3 stories high, PSYCHO! But I guess you need that huge an organ to allow everyone to hear anything. haha.

Before that, there was a little fair to raise money to help restore some parts of the Church in a corner. There was a display of what a traditional 14th Century Medieval English family would have as a Christmas feast! It was really intricate. Remember that there was this castle model, filled with mince and currants, which was made entirely out of pastry. And gold- leafed quails, and hedgehog modelled pork balls.
copy-of-chester-33.jpg

I took a little leaflet on the corner of the table, which was printed a Christmas Carol dating back to 1521. Here it goes!

Boar’s Head Carol
The boar’s head in hand bear I
Bedecked with bays and rosemary
I pray you, my masters, be merry
Quot estis in convivio [so many as are in the feast]

Chorus: Caput apri defero, Reddens laudes domino [the boar's head I bring, giving praises to God]

The boar’s head, as I understand,
Is the rarest dish in all this land
Which thus bedecked with a gay garland
Let us serve cantico [Let us serve with a song]

Chorus: Caput apri defero, Reddens laudes domino [the boar's head I bring, giving praises to God]

Our steward hath provided this
In honour of the King of bliss
Which, on this day to be served is
In Reginensi atrio (In the Queen’s hall)

And there was this little table with bowls of aromatic herbs, flowers, and spices which we could make our own little scent muslin bags with! I made two little ones, 10p each, one really Christmassy, and one which was flowery. Sent those home to the aunt and sister. And I made one large one with lavender for myself! (:
copy-of-chester-34.jpg

After that, we went out of the Cathedral, and spied this outdoor market, and headed straight for that! It was so cool, look at the amount of bread! And, Italian guys are cute. Haha. The market’s entirely run by Italians, and they have the cutest accents! (:
copy-of-chester-2.jpg

Bought a slice of hazelnut crocante to munch on. Crocante’s a really traditional Italian dessert which is really Christmassy, and it’s usually made with peanuts, almond, or hazel nuts. You melt sugar in a pan, till it reaches this thick, gooey consistency, and it’s all golden and brown and aromatic. Just before it turns too brown, throw in your desired nuts, and toss in the lovely sticky, viscous syrup, and spread out on a baking tray till it’s cool and hardened. That’s crocante for you! Learnt how to make it whilst watching Dolce Vita, by David Rocco. Absolutely yum.

So after, we got onto the bus at 1 30 ish, and headed to the Design outlet, where there’s almost every single brand there is, at factory prices (GLEEFUL SMILES ONCE AGAIN!). I got three jackets, two from Adidas, one from Marks and Spencer, two tops from Next, a whole box of colourful paper from The Paper Mill (card making!), and other miscellaneous stuff. It was nuts shopping there! There were like sales going on, even though they were all at discounted prices already, and we all had a card which gave us 10% off at participating stores. Ah, I didn’t bust my budget at all (: Wanted to get some shoes from Clark, coz they’re just so comfortable. But the thing is, it’s all quite aunty and old, and frumpy, and I didn’t like any of the designs, so nawh.

Well, that pretty much sums up my day! I had a lovely day today, walking, shopping, eating, blah blah. Though feeling car sick isn’t the highlight of my day for sure. AURGH.

I’m going to start packing up the tremendous mess in my room, and sleep early. It’s been a tiring day!

Wonky muffins.

December 15, 2007

So, dear Random Me, at approximately 10 36 p.m., decides to go to the kitchen to get a tub of Yoghurt. (I’ve been having Yoghurt pretty often here!) ANYWAYS, so I open my cupboard, and saw the Double Chocolate Muffin mix, and I decide to make muffins for tomorrow’s breakfast for the girls.

And, my muffins are officially wonky. Shape wise, anyways. I stuck them in a roasting pan, with the muffin mix box to kind of compress it together so it doesn’t overflow whilst it’s baking, and I forgot that the box might -actually- burn. So I opened the oven next and whipped the roasting pan out quickly to stop it from burning. And I was stuck with a pan of 7 muffins, all oozing out of their paper cups, and a smoking muffin mix box. Spent the next minute trying to look for things to shove the muffins together till they cook. Tried using cups, spoons, and whatever I could find, and Becky told me that I should just stick it in a smaller tin.

Which I did. And all the muffins baked being squished against each other, and now they’re all squarish and weird, and hereby, wonky.

It was SO funny. When they were done, I took them out, set them on the bar, and I started laughing, and laughing and laughing. It was SO SO SO weird!

And I’m not going to take a picture of it.. HAHA, it’s ridiculous.

BUT! Still edible. (:

I’m gonna be going to Chester for a day trip tomorrow, can’t wait. Prepared a potato salad for 3 to have when hungry, and muffins for breakfast. I think we’re going to be looking at Roman amphitheatres, churches, and going to lovely outdoor markets (LOVE!), and having a good time shopping and spending money (忍!).

And I’ve got to get up at 5 30 to get my hair washed coz my hair will take AGES to dry. Meet up at 7 am, and yeap, OMG, it’s an ungodly hour to wake up!

I’ve got no idea how I could wake up at that time every day for 2 years to prepare for school at MJ, I think I must have been superwoman.

JC seems like such a long time ago. a really really long time ago, and it still puts a smile on my face. (:

OK, enough with the reminiscing! Goodnight y’all.

SLEEP! And wake up at 5 -freaking 30 a.m. WOOHOO!

WHOOPEE.

December 13, 2007

Anyways, everything seems to have frosted over quite a bit this morning when I walked out. Checked the weather at 7 am, and it was a whooping -3 degrees celsius.

Was wondering to myself why the hell did I take half a step back after every step. And I looked down, and there was a layer of frost on the pavement. So I decided to walk-skate all the way to Bartolome house. Was pretty hilarious.. HEHE.

Okay, random photos now. Took some of them whilst waiting for Smin to get to the Arts Tower. And it was damn cold today, so shitty.

frost-4.jpg

Random pressing of the button. (: Don’t know if you can see from the background, but it’s an awfully steep hill behind that house. haha.

frost-1.jpg

That’s the Arts Tower, the tallest building in Sheffield. (SO pathetic right? HAHA) I think it’s really cool coz it was designed by Uni of Sheffield students.. though it’s pretty old and it isn’t much of a wonderful design…..

frost-2.jpg

Frost on the pavement! Which makes skating on really fun.

frost-3.jpg

And the grass has been engulfed by a layer of frost too. Such poor things, don’t know if you can see it though~ HEHE.

HELLO!

December 12, 2007

NOSEBLEEDS! I HATE NOSEBLEEDS!

Seriously, they make my life MISERABLE. And they’re happily resurfacing now.

When I think about the time I have got to wake up tmr at, I can’t help but cringe. I need to be out of the house by 8.35 a.m., which means I’ve got to wake up at 7.00 a.m. to get my hair washed (WHEN IT’S FUCKING COLD)(Sorry, don’t mind the expletive)(BUT IT IS TOO DAMNED COLD :( ), and to wait till it’s dry coz it’s SUICIDE to walk out when it’s windy and cold with wet hair. Back home, I didn’t care coz it was much nicer to walk out with wet hair as it was too hot. But here, HAHA, it’s a totally different story.

I baked the Chinese Nibbles (ribs in unidentifiable sauce bought at Castle Market) today, and it was rather nice! Shopping this morning was quite nice coz it wasn’t very crowded, and I could leisurely walk and take my time, look at the nice cuts of meat (how morbid), and choose what I want happily. I forgot to get my burgers today, so maybe I’d go back soon to get it. Probably next week!

I didn’t do much today, except go to the shops, spend money again. And I only just discovered that there’s a student discount at Dorothy Perkins, wth. WHY OH WHY didn’t I realize it earlier :(

Anyhoo, -stones- i shall go read up a little more on tort, and go sleep. Early morning tmr! Yippee..

December 11, 2007

I am so proud of myself! I finished 3 reports today, and already started doing my research for this case critique thingie I have to do. YAY!

And no lessons tmr, sleep late again! WOOHOO.

It’s -1 degrees celsius tonight, damn it’s cold.

TEEHEE.

moe’s Birthday.

December 10, 2007

Was doing Tort, and I suddenly started humming “Happy Birthday” to myself. I HAVE no idea WHY, but it reminded me of this song Moe (from the Simpsons) was singing to himself during his birthday when Homer forgot he was supposed to bring him birthday fishing.

Happy Birthday to me,  Happy Birthday to me.

I feel so damn lonely,

won’t someone kill me.

And the thing is, it sounded quite nice tempo wise! HAHAHA. I think I’m too random for my own sake, and I’m sure you all agree with me.

 Ok, back to tort! (:

oo, Hello.

December 10, 2007

It’s like 2.36 am, and I absolutely don’t feel like sleeping at all. Maybe it’s because I woke up at 1.06 pm yesterday afternoon. HAH.

Anyways, I have discovered a new website to start watching all my CSI vids again. Season 8 is really cool, and Gil PROPOSED TO SARA. WOO! Been watching for this for a pretty long time. (read: 6 seasons!!)

OK, that’s totally random.

anyways, just a pic from the night before (:
p1000685qwe.jpg

HEHE. and my cheeks look horribly red. no?

Anyways. I think I should go and sleep soon. -smiles- almost 3!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I have found my heaven. I have found a fresh foods’ market. And it’s just a simple 15 min walk. Well, 10 if I do walk fast. OMG, so happy. They’ve got every single cut of meat there, fish too, and all sort of fruits and vegetables. HAHAHA, I think you guys can feel my happiness through this post. -is emanating-

ANYWAYS, I had a splendid day today. Party at Jiar Li’s place was the bomb, and I had so much fun! I spent the morning shopping with her at Castle Market, and with heavy bags and groceries, went to her place to start preparation. I made lasagna today, which I’m really glad of coz everyone said it was good. (: HEHE. Self- gratification much?

But it’s always wonderful to have someone praise your cooking.

Oh and I made oven- roasted spuds, which were described as mini bursts of flavour. LOL.

And what else did I make. OH ROAST CHICKEN too!

And Ashwin’s curry was yum. My first curry actually without the coconut milk. I was pretty apprehensive at first, coz all the curries I know and like are with coconut milk. But I’ve got to say, this one is definitely yum.

Gonna crash! My arms are aching from this morning’s grocery lifting. (SO HEAVY!) We bought like 56 drumsticks, 1 1/2 kilos of minced lamb, potatoes, pots and pans, brussel sprouts, and loads of other stuff.

And my legs hurt from excessive standing, TIRED!

OK, byeee! (: I’m going to go sleep with a smile on my face tonight. HEHE.

OOO, it hurts!

December 7, 2007

My thumb does not like me writing. It retaliates by developing a huge corn at the base, and it’s happily throbbing away! YIPPEE.

And this is the result of my.. (not so hard) work. I just spent a lot of time trying to organize the sections. HAHA.
hpim2528.jpg

Colourful notes make me feel happy!

YAY!

shit man, it’s just two miserable chapters of the entire public law syllabus, and I’m so happy. LOL.
Are there any sort of corn cushion plasters about? That I can use while writing. Can’t stand the pain, ow.

12.36 a.m.

I think I’d just see if the next one to do is really long. Maybe I’d just do another mind- map and go sleep. (:

Anyways, I didn’t get to do another mind- map today. I lapsed into recategorizing all my files. Just a massive 825 files from Wilmer alone. He really does amass his notes, that’s for sure. SO YEAH! YAYNESS. I finally got down to reorganizing the entire folder. WHOOPEE!

And my corn is still throbbing. GRR.

A state of disarray;

December 5, 2007

I really have to start packing up my room. It’s in an utter mess, it’s unbelievable. Hoovering tomorrow, definitely.

So, went to watch Becky’s performance. Was pretty entertaining, HEHE. And before that, whilst standing in the rain and against the onslaught of the wind, I had another lovely bratwurst sausage in a bread roll, and this time, I took a picture of it (:

hpim2525.jpg

YUMMY. (:

Got hopelessly lost today in Endcliffe. It was really really far, well, maybe not -that- far. Overshot my stop by at least 6 stops, and ended back in the city centre, gee.

And patience slightly wearing thin, though I won’t want to name any particular names. Grr.

Alright, I shall settle down to another hour of studying before I go sleep (: Toodles~

haha, I was tagged.

I made a beef stew today, but I wasn’t too glad with how it turned out… I think the taste of the wine actually (I’ve got absolutely no idea how with all the meat in it) covered the taste of the meat, and there wasn’t enough of that.. aromatic meaty flavour which a stew should have….

So, I felt kind of odd throughout my dinner, coz the stew just wasn’t going well.

Oh wells.

Maybe it just needed more salt, or maybe beef stock to plump up the taste.

Ah heck, grr.

Spent my day reading public law, zzz. So boring. And I’m already feeling sleepy. Must be the wine. Alcohol always makes me feel sleepy….I guess I’d just stay up a little longer, read a bit more public, and go sleep. -yawns-

Swoons.

December 1, 2007

OMG, I just found another wonderful singer! He’s called Showta, and his songs are really.. the best I’ve heard in a long while (: I get really confused whenever I watch his video, coz he looks so feminine and his voice is SO feminine tooooo. The melody’s wonderful, and it feels really emotional, I have no idea if I did describe that correctly, but YEA.

-grins-

Good luck mei for your marathon thing later on! (: Which is about 4 or 5 hours time. I’m sure you’d have loads of fun (with your orange mizunossss).
